A personal, independent project that explains America's global role clearly, honestly and in two languages.
Why
Few countries shape daily life around the world the way the United States does. Its money, alliances, technology, films and science affect people who never set foot there. This guide tries to explain how that happened and what it means, with numbers you can check.
It's written for curious readers: students, travellers, and anyone who's ever wondered why the world's reserve currency, favourite streaming platforms and most-cited research papers so often come from one country.
How it was made
Each chapter was researched from primary sources and cross-checked. Every number carries a footnote that links to where it came from. Each chapter's Challenges & debates section deliberately gives space to critics, because an honest picture of power includes its costs and failures.
The site is a fast, static website with no tracking, no cookies and no ads. It works on phones, supports dark mode and follows accessibility guidelines.
What's new in version 2
Version 2 is a complete rebuild:
- Six chapters rewritten and roughly three times longer, with updated figures
- Interactive charts, chapter timelines, profiles of key people, and balanced debate sections
- A 250-year master timeline and an interactive map of all 50 states
- A 60-question quiz with explanations and sources
- Real photography, mostly from US government archives in the public domain
- Full Romanian translation at real addresses (/ro/)
